GPS Tracking Shoes Designed to Help Alzheimer’s Patients from Getting Lost

One of the most read posts that I have written was about a tracking bracelet that could be used to help keep track of people with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or autism.  Wandering can be a serious danger for people with these conditions, and it is something that needs to be addressed.

One of the downsides of a tracking bracelet is that it is very easily removed, and thus rendered useless.  However, one thing that no one is likely to leave home without is their shoes.  According to an article from NPR’s health blog, GTX Corp and Aetrex Worldwide have worked together to develop a shoe that provides the same tracking abilities as a bracelet with much less likelihood of it being left somewhere.

The shoes are even designed to look like many of the shoes that senior citizens already wear so that they will feel comfortable wearing them.  They are a little pricey at $299 along with a monthly service fee, but considering how much people pay for useless toys it may not be so unreasonable for something that will give you peace of mind, and keep your loved one safe.
