WebDMEMR - A web based Electronic Medical Record [1]

Offered to both individual patients and health care providers (HCPs), WebDMEMR serves as an application service provider [2] to subscribing customers.

What makes WebDMEMR unique is the fact that it is designed to be a universal patient record providing continuity of care that is shared by all of a patient's health care providers. Each patient has one record throughout his/her lifetime, regardless of the number of HCPs the patient has. WebDMEMR does away with the traditional fragmentation of medical care which exists today.

The traditional scheme of health care delivery using existing patient health records is that patient "A" may have ten different HCPs, each of whom may have a separate electronic or paper health record for patient "A". Since each electronic system is independent and lacks interoperability between each other and each paper record can only be physically accessed by the personnel of the particular medical office, there is, therefore, complete fragmentation of the health services being offered to patient "A". With WebDMEMR, the reverse is possible: all ten HCPs may add to the patient's one and only WebDMEMR online medical record. Now, with WebDMEMR, the patient has ONE record even though the patient has ten (10) HCPs. This allows for continuity of care and medical collaboration!

Fortunately, this concept was developed with the privacy and security regulations of HIPAA [3] in mind and although personal and medical information is shared within WebDMEMR, all features are permission based. NO information is shared without the DIRECT authorization of the patient. And if authorized legal sharing of information is still a concern, WebDMEMR can still be used as a traditional stand alone online "closed" [4] EMR system. As the internet revolution has changed not only the healthcare industry, but the way we access, gather and organize information in our everyday lives, WebDMEMR offers a complete solution to both patients and HCPs.

Minimal Requirements

WebDMEMR has only 4 requirements. The first two requirements are a PC with internet access and a web browser, Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. The third requirement is having the free software Adobe Reader [5] installed. The fourth requirement is a scanner necessary if you plan on uploading paper documents.

Easy Implementation

WebDMEMR can be used in many different medical environments. Users range from a single healthcare provider, a group practice or even a hospital or a medical plan. Because WebDMEMR is so user friendly and straightforward, NO IT professional or technical training is required to install, configure or maintain. You only need to create the users of your "center" and assign the roles and access for each one. This allows you to have complete control over your center. Our support team is also available to give you remote on-line support and training when needed. WebDMEMR"s implementation into your practice usually starts within days, not months.

"24-7 access"

WebDMEMR offers unlimited connection and data transfer to all of its users. Our servers are located in Dallas, Texas with Rackspace[6]as the hosting company. Rackspace is a world leader in the hosting industry and their data center offers 100% network uptime.

WebDMEMR is both a provider centric and patient centric EMR. It has a patient access feature allowing patients to view their medical record for free. Both HCPs and patients have permission controlled access to medical records at any time, from any internet connection, anywhere in the world.

Easy Document Managment and Storage

When you visualize a medical record, it all comes down to the documents. Since WebDMEMR's "Document Catalog" (DC) serves as a data collect feature, you may continue to use your own templates and office documents. If you have a scanner, you may even continue using your paper documents as well, by uploading them to the DC. By doing so, you may completely digitalize your practice. It's that simple! All documents and reports generated by WebDMEMR are created in PDF format [7], meaning that you do not need to install any additional software. WebDMEMR allows you to categorize your documents to create a "no hassle document management system" for your staff. All data that is uploaded will be backed up and secured, eliminating the need to keep hard copy records, since they can be printed and become hard copy any time in the future when needed.

High Security

WebDMEMR"s view on security is at the top of the priority list. With WebDMEMR being a web based application we take care of ALL the security needs. All communication between the client PC and our servers are completely encrypted by 128bit SSL Encryption, which guarantees the secure transmission of the data. WebDMEMR also incorporates Network Solution's Watchdog Service, which provides a daily security vulnerability scan against our site to guard against hackers. Also for high security environments, WebDMEMR offers 2-Form authentication tokens for any user who desires an extra level of authentication.

Medical Collaboration and Continuity of Care

Medical collaboration and continuity of care are probably the most important and unique features WebDMEMR has to offer. Since WebDMEMR allows different health care providers to access the SAME patient record, medical collaboration eliminates duplication of procedures, labs, re-entry of data, etc. By using the "Business Associates Agreement", multiple health care facilities can collaborate within the same patient record while abiding to HIPAA regulations.

Continuity of care is offered both in a horizontal and vertical platform. Medical collaboration permits delivering continuity of care in a horizontal platform and having only one patient record throughout a lifetime offers continuity of care in a vertical platform.

Key Features

WebDMEMR allows instant and simultaneous access to information by many users at any one time. WebDMEMR was created with the assumption that the HCP is usually the least computer savvy user and doesn’t have the time to enter data. Thus, two key features were created to save medical personel time and energy. First is the “retrieve from last visit” feature available for all follow up visits. After the initial visit is created, a HCP can retrieve a copy of the last visit created by self, to serve as a guided outline for the new follow up visit. This allows the HCP to better document, maximize and organize the follow up visit to be edited. The second key feature is the ability for the HCP to “link” supporting data, entered previously, in order to complete a visit, which at the same time, helps in maximizing billing codes. Since all the supporting modules are independent of each other (stand alone modules), the office support staff may enter data into the modules, as needed. The HCP decides what information from the independent modules he/she wishes to add to the progress note of the visit encounter. The HCP may “link” all the different pieces of information with just a click of the mouse, allowing minimal typing for the HCP. Once data or documents from corresponding modules have been “linked” to a visit, that bit of data is sealed in the independent modules and cannot be edited or removed.

  • Electronic prescription or Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) allows HCPs to electronically generate labs, procedures or prescription orders.
  • WebDMEMR allows site administrators to specifically define user access and roles. Each user may have any of the following “Roles” - health care professional, monitor, patient or staff. For each corresponding role, the site administrator may give a specific type of access to each individual module. The access types include: full access, contributor, view only or deny.
  • WebDMEMR has many other features including efficiency design: quick search engines, CPT and ICD-9 Coding, error controls and reminders, avoids duplication of documentation; electronic signing; Optional 2-Form Authentication (RSA); soon to come – Fujitsu’s Palmsecure™; a complete audit trail; HIPAA compliant standards; clinical trials modules and many more!
  • The Business Associate Agreement feature allows multiple sites to establish a business associate relationship directly with each other.
