I just got done with a presentation in Austin, TX on EHR stimulus money available through ARRA. Overall it seems like the comments on the presentation were good and those in attendance seemed to appreciate hearing some candid thoughts about the EHR stimulus money and how they could obtain that money. I think I’ll share some of the other things I learned from the experience and thoughts I had while talking to people for future posts.
As I promised those in attendance, here are the slides I used for my presentation:
I want to thank GCS Technologies for inviting me to come and do this presentation. From everything I saw and experienced they seem to be a first class organization that does IT support the right way.
If any of you have an organization or company that’s interested in having me present on the topic or EHR stimulus money from ARRA, feel free to drop me a note on my “Contact Us” page.

I’m in Austin, TX right now getting ready for a presentation tomorrow on ARRA EHR Stimulus money. I’m very exited about this opportunity and really hope that I can provide some value to those in attendance. If all goes well, then tomorrow I’ll post the slides from the presentation and possibly some thoughts about the experience.
Thanks to this presentation I’ve been kind of busy and unable to post some new content here despite having a lot to write about.
In the meantime, the EHR world has kind of been buzzing about the CCHIT gap analysis between the CCHIT certification criteria and the meaningful use matrix. You can check out the CCHIT annotated meaningful use matrix here. I’ve always had a hard time trying to reconcile the differences between what “certified EHR” and “meaningful use” were meant to achieve. There seemed to be far too much overlap.
The other part of this CCHIT annotated EHR meaningful use matrix is the letter that CCHIT sent to ONC. In the letter CCHIT asks that the “meaningful use measures be either simplified for 2011, or postponed until 2013.” This has been a really common request. It will be interesting to see how ONC and the HIT Policy committee respond to these type of suggestions.
