EMR and EHR Vendor List

I decided to start a list of EHR and EMR vendors that I could eventually demo and write a review for. I’d been meaning to do this for a while, so tonight I finally decided to just start it. I’ve only added two for now because I started to look at Life Record EMR and found it very interesting. I didn’t want to lose it from my list since I hadn’t seen it many places. Thus the list began. I also added my EMR since I know the website. I have a whole slew to add still so don’t feel bad if you don’t see your EMR yet. Eventually I’ll post when I have added all that I can find. Until then please feel free to post a comment to this post and I’ll be happy to add you to the list.

  • hey John:

You know me better as sanvas on emrupdate. Could you please add DoctorsPartner to your list of EMRs? I would love to see that. Also, I think your blog is very useful. I think you had mentioned that you did link to the price matrix, but I did not see it. It is a good resource to share with your readers. See you on emrupdate!

  • You’ll notice that some of the non-traditional players are forming strategic alliances with more IT (versus Radiologically-centric companies.)

For example, AGFA HealthCare”s integrated IMPAX Suite includes best-of-breed EHR/EMR/ “client registry” support and (HIPPA-compliant) connectivity through partnerships. This ensures their bundled IMPAX PACS/RIS/HIS/MPI/and the “Clinical Dashboard” or “Physicians Portal” products position their customers for easy and painfree transition to wherever the end-solution.

AGFA’s EHR/EMR Roadmap includes bundling their successful IMPAX Suite with embedded MPI (through IMPAX 6.0) —provided by best-of-breed Initiate Systems, and the Physician’s Portal is provided by MEDSEEK (www.medseek.com) /formerly AccessPoint. Both have been validated, integrated, and installed at locations across North America over the last 18 months.

Given for example, AGFA’s HealthCare’s 75%+ PACS market-share in Canada, and Initiate Systems signing Province-wide deals with more than five of the Provinces—and $1.2 Billion on the table from Canada Infoway for a national EHR—you can bet to see some strategic positioning by all the larger players.

Therefore, I’d like to suggest adding:
    AGFA HealthCare (www.agfa.com)
    MEDSEEK (www.medseek.com)
    Initiate Systems (www.initiatesystems.com)

  • You might want to consider adding Noteworthy EHR to your list.

Noteworthy Medical Systems is a privately-held company founded in 1997. We have a small client base (our competitors love to try to hold that against us), but that client base loves us because we really are that intuitive and easy to use–we have 100% provider/user adoption.

The fact is, we’re big enough to do the job well and still small enough to care about the success of our clients. Our EHR is adaptable to any size practice, any speciality and any practice management system. Currently our clients include specialities in pediatrics, community health centers, plastic surgery, ob/gyn and endocrinology.

And yes, even with that $28,000 price tag, we’re working toward CCHIT in October. If only CCHIT certification was indicative of ease of use! But it’s still a necessary step to consistency and standards and we’re happy it’s around.

Thanks for the opportunity to add us, and for me to tout us a little. We seem to be the best EHR that people haven’t heard of! 🙂

Thanks! (Oh, and our website is in the process of being redesigned, so don’t let that throw you.)

  • You might want to consider differentiating those vendors offering EMR systems to Hospitals/Physicians/Practices/etc. from those who offer systems direct to the consumer.

I know I am looking for a site/system to store my records currently and you’re blog is great. . .but sifting through all the ‘corporate’ solutions to find consumer sites is challenging!

  • Waiting Room Solutions version 3.0 is an affordable CCHIT certified EMR and Practice Management system completely built on open source technologies. It is completely web-based and delivered in the Software as a Service (SaaS) model. Its modules include EMR, billing, scheduling, ERx, website, patient messaging, personal health records, order tracking and health maintenance. Combining SaaS with open source now makes practice management affordable.

  • I was trying to be added to your vendor list:

Our company is Medcom Computers Inc. We are an authorized re-seller of McKesson-Practice Partner. We were founded in 1986 and have been
successfully intergrating Electronic Medical Records since 1992.

I think we offer the best of both worlds, award winning software backed by McKesson and local, quality service.

    Our site is: http://www.paperlessmed.com

    Thanks,
    Joe Neilson

  • Joe,
I haven’t decided if I’m going to add re-sellers or not. I have practice partner on the list. I might have to consider creating a list of resellers in the future.

  • Have you taken a look at alloFactor?

alloFactor is a free practice management software solution for medical practices. It is the only software a clinic would ever need as it supports all internal clinic functions including scheduling, registration, billing, EMR, reporting and all external interactions with payers including claim submission, ERA and eligibility verification. The software is built to allow communication with external agencies such as billing, transcription, appointment scheduling vendors. Since it has extensive functionality, website has free tutorials and free customer service to help customers become proficient with the system.

With an integrated database and automated workflow, alloFactor increases productivity, velocity and accuracy within the clinic. It is deployed as hosted solution eliminating the need to purchase expensive hardware or backup solutions. All communication is encrypted to protect patient information. alloFactor is unique in that it does not use a web browser; instead it has the familiar, intuitive Windows based interface. alloFactor automatically self-updates with the latest version, which are generally released every 2 weeks. Since it is not browser based, alloFactor can directly interface with compatible desktop products such as scanners and mobile charge capture software.

alloFactor’s business model is truly unique – it does not charge for its software modules (except optional EMR module – $35/month), customer service and setup. However it supports itself by charging a small fee for each payer transaction, typically less than what you would pay your clearinghouse to submit claims electronically.

Designed for psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers, Therapy Office™ is simple and intuitive software that lets therapists handwrite electronically their session notes. The complete practice-management software also includes charting, billing, scheduling, electronic prescriptions and daily data back-ups. Therapy Office™ enhances the quality of patient care through its digital handwriting feature. Therapists can maintain essential, eye contact with patients as they handwrite session notes with an electronic pen on a lightweight laptop. A translate-text button ensures clarity by translating the digital handwriting into clear, typed-text and permanently stored with the handwritten notes.

  • Hello,

I would like to introducte my company to all the EMR vendors. We are a 20 year old, privately-held equipment/software leasing & finance lender. We have a strong footprint in the healthcare and technology markets. I would be happy to discuss with any EMR vendor our software programs that could be an added value to your products and increase revenue, shorten sales cycles & limit your end-users capital concerns in this current market.

    Thanks,

  • With all the fantastic EMR and PHR software and systems becoming available on the market I feel that all the attention to these programs are missing a key element to make these systems even better and more efficient.

An EMR and PHR system is only as good as the information it utilizes. What I mean is that according to published information, 90% of all medical records are in a paper or printed format.

So if 90% of all information resides on paper, I believe EMR and PHR systems are missing this key element: Past records converted to electronic format so that the past can be combined with the new completing a full circle life cycle of all medical records thus making EMR and PHR systems complete.

Companies like ImageDoc USA out of Denver Colorado, is a fantastic company that just specializes in content conversion services. Maybe EMR & PHR companies and software should team up with a content conversion company to offer a full life cycle system.

  • This is a new web tool that allows patients to track diseases that run in their family.

The tool can save information online and be uploaded to an EHR/PHR system.
